Compare the2027 Chevrolet BoltVS 2026 Kia EV6

2027 Chevrolet Bolt
2026 Kia EV6

Safety

The Bolt has standard Post Collision Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The EV6 doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Both the Bolt and the EV6 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

The Bolt’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the EV6’s (6/100,000 vs. 5/100,000).

There are almost 4 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Kia dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Bolt’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than Kia vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in initial quality. With 3 more problems per 100 vehicles, Kia is rated lower.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than Kia vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in long-term dependability. With 33 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Kia is rated lower.

Engine

The Bolt’s electric motor produces 43 more horsepower (210 vs. 167) than the EV6 Light Standard Range’s standard electric motor.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Bolt gets better mileage than the EV6:

The Bolt can travel longer on a full charge than the EV6 Light (262 miles vs. 237 miles).

Tires and Wheels

The Bolt’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the EV6’s standard 55 series tires.

The Bolt has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The EV6 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Chassis

The Chevrolet Bolt may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 800 pounds less than the Kia EV6.

The Bolt is 1 foot, 3.2 inches shorter than the EV6, making the Bolt easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Passenger Space

The Bolt has 1 inch more front headroom, 1.9 inches more front legroom and .1 inches more rear legroom than the EV6.

Cargo Capacity

The Bolt has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the EV6 with its rear seat folded (56.3 vs. 46.7 cubic feet).

Ergonomics

The Bolt’s front and rear power windows all lower with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The EV6’s standard power windows’ passenger windows don’t open automatically. The EV6 GT-Line’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to lower them fully.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Bolt has a standard rear wiper. The EV6 doesn’t offer a rear wiper.
