Both the Tahoe and the Palisade have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available all wheel drive.

The Chevrolet Tahoe weighs 637 to 1462 pounds more than the Hyundai Palisade. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Chevrolet Tahoe is safer than the Hyundai Palisade:

There are over 3 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Hyundai dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Tahoe’s warranty.

The Tahoe has a standard “limp home system” to keep drivers from being stranded if most or all of the engine’s coolant is lost. The engine will run on only half of its cylinders at a time, reduce its power and light a warning lamp on the dashboard so the driver can get to a service station for repairs. The Palisade doesn’t offer a lost coolant limp home mode, so a coolant leak could strand you or seriously damage the truck’s engine.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Tahoe first among large suvs in their 2025 Initial Quality Study. The Palisade isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in long-term dependability. With 33 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Hyundai is rated below average.

The Tahoe’s standard 5.3 V8 produces 68 more horsepower (355 vs. 287) and 123 lbs.-ft. more torque (383 vs. 260) than the Palisade’s standard 3.5 DOHC V6. The Tahoe’s 5.3 V8 produces 26 more horsepower (355 vs. 329) and 44 lbs.-ft. more torque (383 vs. 339) than the Palisade’s optional 2.5 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The Tahoe’s optional 6.2 V8 produces 91 more horsepower (420 vs. 329) and 121 lbs.-ft. more torque (460 vs. 339) than the Palisade’s optional 2.5 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid.

The Tahoe’s 3.0 turbo diesel produces 18 more horsepower (305 vs. 287) and 235 lbs.-ft. more torque (495 vs. 260) than the Palisade’s standard 3.5 DOHC V6. The Tahoe’s 3.0 turbo diesel produces 156 lbs.-ft. more torque (495 vs. 339) than the Palisade’s optional 2.5 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Tahoe V8’s fuel efficiency. The Palisade doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The Tahoe has 5.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the Palisade Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (24 vs. 18.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Tahoe has 5 gallons more fuel capacity than the Palisade V6’s standard fuel tank (24 vs. 19 gallons).

The Tahoe has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Palisade doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Chevrolet Tahoe, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Palisade.

For better traction, the Tahoe has larger standard tires than the Palisade (265/65R18 vs. 235/65R18). The Tahoe RST/High Country’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Palisade (285/40R24 vs. 265/45R21).

The Tahoe RST/High Country’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Palisade Calligraphy’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Tahoe RST/High Country offers optional 24-inch wheels. The Palisade’s largest wheels are only 21-inches.

The Chevrolet Tahoe’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Hyundai Palisade only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Tahoe has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Palisade doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The Tahoe has a standard full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Palisade; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.

The Tahoe offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Palisade’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Tahoe’s wheelbase is 4 inches longer than on the Palisade (120.9 inches vs. 116.9 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Tahoe is 1 inch wider in the front and .4 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Palisade.

For better maneuverability, the Tahoe’s turning circle is 1.2 feet tighter than the Palisade XRT PRO’s (37.8 feet vs. 39 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Tahoe has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Palisade (8 vs. 7.4 inches), allowing the Tahoe to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Tahoe Z71 Air Ride’s minimum ground clearance is 1.6 inches higher than on the Palisade XRT PRO (10 vs. 8.4 inches).

As tested by Car and Driver while cruising at 70 MPH, the interior of the Tahoe Z71 4x4 is quieter than the Palisade Calligraphy HTRAC (66 vs. 67 dB).

The Tahoe offers optional seating for 9 passengers; the Palisade can only carry up to 8.

A standard locking glovebox and optional locking center console keeps your small valuables safer in the Tahoe. The Palisade doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The Tahoe’s minimum standard towing capacity is much higher than the Palisade’s (7700 vs. 5000 pounds). Maximum trailer towing in the Hyundai Palisade is only 5000 pounds. The Tahoe offers up to a 8400 lbs. towing capacity.

While the Palisade Hybrid can only tow 4000, any Tahoe can tow a minimum of 7700 pounds.

The Tahoe 4WD with optional equipment can be flat towed on all four wheels (dinghy towed), allowing recreational vehicle owners to bring it with them on the road. When they reach their destination, the Tahoe can be unhitched and driven around locally. The Palisade can’t be towed flat on the ground.

The engine in the Tahoe is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the Palisade. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

The Tahoe’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Palisade does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Tahoe’s front and rear power windows all lower with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Palisade’s standard power windows’ rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open them fully.

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the Tahoe’s available exterior PIN entry system. The Palisade doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system, and its Bluelink can’t unlock the doors if the vehicle doesn’t have cell phone reception or the driver can’t contact the service.

The Tahoe’s standard Keyless Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Proximity Key standard on the Palisade doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The Tahoe’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Palisade’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.
